bingoThe Kimberle Gardens Resident Association is holding a Bingo Fundraiser for those living in SMHA high-rise/senior buildings. The event will be held at the Kimberle Gardens community room, 904 34th St. NW Canton, OH 44709 on Monday, February 8th at 6:00 PM.  Please check your building bulletin board by February 3rd to RSVP for the event!




A mini-grant in the amount of $2,500 provided by the Stark-Wayne-Tusc Joint Solid Waste Management District will enable SMHA to facilitate educational workshops, recycling activities, and develop educational resource materials to promote anti-litter and recycling awareness. In partnership with the city of Canton Sanitation Dept., SMHA will be engaging with residents at several family-sites to promote a recycling program which is anticipated to commence this spring.


SMHA Completes Parking Lot Project at Kimberlee Gardens

SMHA is pleased to announce that the parking lot project at Kimberlee Gardens, a 31 unit development located at 904 34th St. NW in Canton, which began on 9-2-15 and was completed on 12-30-15 was approved by the City of Canton Building Inspection Department.

The entire parking lot was replaced with new asphalt, striped, and concrete wheel stops and signs were installed. New concrete was installed around the whole building and in the courtyard area. New yard catch basins, French drains, and aluminum railing was installed around the new parking lot.

Other improvements include: installation of six foot vinyl fencing, new store front doors with auto opener and key scan capability, landscaping, new VET tile, cove base, and painting was done in main entrance, chain link fence was installed around the new dumpster pad, and new concrete ramps were installed.

Love the Children!

love the childrenLove the Children Ministries hosted a holiday event in partnership with SMHA on December 19th at 5 PM at the McKinley Downtown Campus. The event featured a delicious dinner, music, entertainment and children were visited by Santa Claus who  provided each child with two toys! All children  also received Christmas cookies, a storybook, and a stuffed animal. We are very grateful for our relationship with Love the Children Ministries who continues help SMHA spread Christmas cheer during the holiday season.

Food Vouchers Distributed this Holiday Season

logo smallSMHA’s Community Services Dept. and SCCAA provided food vouchers to many SMHA senior residents over the holiday season.  Fisher Foods cards in the amount of $50.00 were provided to eligible residents age 60 and over. Residents at the following locations were serviced: Constitution Hall, Kimberlee Gardens, Shortridge Villa, Reynolds Manor, and Lincoln Apts.
